At Your Service

Hello America, Rob here. We’re going to start this entry off with a touch of narcissism:

Saxbot 3000, at your service.

I’ve wanted to do Saxbot 3000 for a while now, and The Revivalists’ Halloween show with Big Sam’s Funky Nation was a good an opportunity as there will ever be. We had a very fun night, thanks to our own costumes, our dear fans, the sheer, spectacular force of Big Sam’s Funky Nation, and the birth of our new, awesome, mostly female fan club, The Revivaltits.

They made t-shirts.

We spent the rest of the weekend enjoying Halloween and Voodoo. I finally got to see one of my all-time heroes, Ozzy Osbourne, in concert. Belting out “Mama I’m Coming Home” along with the Ozzman and a few thousand other fans was pretty goosebumpy.

Yesterday we once again joined up with our dear friend Alysse Gafkjen to finally get some press shots that have Ed in them. Her work is wonderful, and despite having to change up our plans due to the rain, we hit some pretty interesting locations, like the pillow room at the Neutral Ground Coffee House, George’s closet, and a dog party on the corner of Lowerline and Willow at midnight.

We’re kind of weird sometimes.

Now, before I sign off, it is with a heavy heart that I announce the departure of a beloved and vital member of Team Revivalist. Vandalf, our faithful van-servant, has passed on at the age of 300,000 miles due to complications from transmission failure.

The “Seventh Revivalist,” Vandalf will be remembered for loyalty, patience, and being a total chick magnet. Through good times and bad, upgraded stereos and broken windows, fast food cups and melted candy bars, Vandalf tirelessly and thanklessly shepherded us across this great nation, accumulating over 300,000 miles, approximately twelve times the circumference of the Earth.

The Revivalists have always dreamed of being the first rock band to play on the moon. By raw mileage, Vandalf could have taken us there.

We were so young back then.

Okay, enough eulogizing. This evening we’re going to hit the road to knock some time off of our trip to Charlotte, NC, where we’ll be playing The Double Door. Then, we have a private event on Friday in Columbia, SC, then a long drive back to New Orleans on Saturday to so we can creep on girls at my old fraternity house provide music for a philanthropy event sponsored by Tulane’s Sigma Chi chapter. The Saturday show will be on Zimple quad (right across from The Boot). It’s a free show, but please bring dollars because the fraternity will be collecting donations for Children’s Miracle Network. It’s a wonderful organization, they’ve raised billions (yes, actual BILLIONS) of dollars for children’s hospitals in their 27 years of operation. So if you’re in New Orleans, you will have the opportunity to both watch The Revivalists play music and give dollars to sick children who need it way more than you or I do. What’s not to like?

Okay, no more words. Bye.
