Fitzgerald Clause

Hello, friends!  Rob here.

In case you were wondering, right now I am experiencing the intro to Stanley Kubrick’s “2001:  A Space Odyssey,” right down to the soundtrack.  Why?  I just turned on the air conditioning in my new apartment for the first time.  I plugged in my netbook right when the Prelude from “Also Sprach Zarathustra” hit its peak.  Then, I started writing.  Then, I poured myself a modest helping of whiskey.  Because, you see, there’s probably some law against sitting alone in an apartment, writing and listening to Strauss without drinking alcohol, and, even though it’s probably very difficult to enforce, better safe than sorry.

…Call it a “Fitzgerald Clause.”

Entergy came by today to turn the power on.  We’re still waiting on the internet, so I will have to return to my old apartment to post this.  As I write I am taking a late lunch break from such thrilling activities as moving some of my smaller items up one or more flights of stairs, making my new bedroom habitable, and purchasing and installing the most awesome shower curtain ever:

THIS IS WHAT MY SHOWER CURTAIN ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE

As you can see, I’m quite busy.  This entry will be short (although, with the above preamble, it’s probably going to turn out pretty long.  I probably could have just written a more detailed and band-oriented entry in the time it has taken me to bore you with personal crap.  Oh well).

Anyway, The Revivalists have had a nice weekend.  It’s always great to get back to Hattiesburg, the graduation bash at Blue Nile was absolutely amazing (when have we ever not had an amazing time playing at Blue Nile?), and Zack and Natalie’s double-birthday slopfest was, well, a double-birthday slopfest.  Any party where the guests provide the music is bound to be a risk, and, long story short, I would ike to thank the kindly staff at Café Prytania for tolerating the evening’s final hour or so of, er “music.”

We were doing pretty well until we found out that we could get $1 shots.

The Revivalists are going on mini-tour soon!  We’ve got a bigger one starting to come together for July, but we’ll be spending a week on the road starting next Tuesday, gigging our way up to Connecticut for B.O.M.B. Fest and returning to The Kennedy Center in D.C. and Andrew’s hometown of Falls Church, VA for a Memorial Day double-header.  We’ll cap the week off with a nice little homecoming gig opening for Eric Lindell at Wednesdays at the Square on July 1st.

This weekend, we have our monthly weekend at Bamboo’s in Pensacola (always a good time) followed by a 4:45 set at Bayou Boogaloo here in New Orleans.  At this point I probably don’t have to tell you this, but, in case it hasn’t sunk in yet, we would love to see each and every one of your shining faces this weekend.  Because, you know, you guys are like, cool and stuff.

Okay, the end!  There MIGHT not be a Blog Wednesday next week, or it might be short, or it might be on the wrong day or something on account of travel.  You have been warned.  Bye!
