My Parents Must Be So Proud

Hello America, Rob here.

Okay I know we’re on tour and we’ve been up to all manner of unrestrained silliness but right now none of that is even vaguely pretend-relevant because…

Wait for it…

is finally up and running again! Check it out right the hell right now. It has, like, stuff on it. Internet stuff! You can click and .jpeg and possibly even “surf.” It’s the world of the Future at your fingertips! Today!!!

We’re actually very proud of this website. It just launched yesterday, and some people seem to be reporting issues, but it is mostly if not entirely functional and we’re all exceedingly pleased with the way it’s going. Please report any issues with the website (people seem to be using Facebook to alert us to problems, which is as good an avenue as any) so we can make sure everything works for everyone while we still have our web designer’s ear.

Tour has been fun. We had a good second night with The Rebirth Brass Band in Chicago, and Minneapolis was a lot of fun as well. We’ve played a lot of shows with Rebirth, but these past four nights have been exceptional in that we’ve spent a good amount of each night hanging out with them. It’s been fun getting a sense of the different personalities in the group, talking shop and absorbing their banter backstage. It makes me feel like a real New Orleans music guy.

Plus, when we open for them, we get to play to large crowds in high-profile venues. That is also fun.

Driving day today. One thing we’ve been learning this tour is that obscure mom-n-pop rest stop diners stomp the living crap out of the fast food chains we usually frequent during our travels. Cinnamon roll french toast? Yes please. Fried chicken eggs benedict? You bet. A cookie shaped like a pig, complete with pink frosting? At a mere 89 cents, it’s a steal. A free sample of pizza at a gas station? Actually not disgusting.

Oh yeah, also, tour makes you, like, super fat. Tonight, as I write this, I am sitting down to what would normally be considered a thoroughly embarrassing dinner. When one is on tour, however, this is actually a comparatively nutritious, well-balanced meal:

My parents must be so proud.

We’ve stopped our driving day a bit prematurely on account of fatigue and fog. Right now we’re holed up in exactly the kind of motel for which the term “holed up” was invented and we’re winding down for the evening. I’m heading to bed. We’ll see you in Columbus tomorrow. Goodnight friends!
