George Gekas

George Gekas

I began playing saxophone in the fourth grade and played in concert band recitals all the way through high school. Like most who take up the saxophone I started on the Alto and when the spot opened up I jumped to switch to the Baritone, which I played my Junior and Senior years.

My love for bass started when I was around 13 and I received my first one for Christmas. Around a year later I began taking lessons from a man named Jim Clark in Stratford, CT who helped mold and guide me into the player I am today.

I attended a high school in Fairfield, CT known as The Fairfield College Preparatory School. This is my initial connection with Loyola as they are both run by The Jesuits. After receiving an academic scholarship to attend Loyola I figured Id give it a try and the rest is history.
