Zack Feinberg - The Revivalists

Zack Feinberg helped form The Revivalists as a 20-year-old college student in New Orleans. As the story goes, Zack was riding his bike home from campus one day when he heard a neighbor singing something really good-sounding on his porch. They struck up a friendship and soon after Zack introduced the singer, David Shaw, to drummer/comrade-in-jams Andrew Campanelli. It didn’t take long after that for the rest of the band to come together in its current, definitive septet. That was in 2007 and ever since then The Revivalists journey has been all about hard work, persistence, friendship, professional growth, and van maintenance. These days the relentless touring is paying off: The Revivalists have been playing impressive festival slots and releasing sweet music to appreciative audiences and sometimes magazine and/or blog/online publication writers/ tweeterers.

Zack grew up loving great songwriters – to give an example, here are some of the B’s on his iPod: The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Bill Withers, Ben Folds, The Band, Bruce Springsteen, Ben Harper, Bob Marley, Bruce Hornsby. This appreciation for and commitment to songwriting is an important part of Zack’s musicality as well as an important piece of The Revivalists thing. When Zack first started playing the geetar, in third grade, he was really into blues music. He had a ton of "Best of the Blues” type compilations. This gave him a foundation for the emotive, improvisational soloing he continues to strive for today. To give an example of this, here are some of the B’s on his iPod: B.B King, Buddy Guy, Bobby Bland, The Blues Brothers. As he grew older into adolescence Zack opened up more to different kinds of music. He frequently attended concerts and was into the jam scene and its broad acceptance of different musical styles. To give an example of this, here are some B’s on his ipod: Béla Fleck and The Flecktones, Bonerama, Brad Paisley, Bobby Previte, The Bad Plus. This appreciation for instrumental proficiency, improvisation, exploration and open-mindedness are important parts of Zacks and The Revivalists harmony.
